Evangeline In the early decades of the 20th century, there was a romantic explosion of whimsical fashions. For the first time in the history of elegant dress, anthing could be done- all spearheaded by new fashion giants, and grand magazines like Harper's Bazaar. Sadly, many of these ideas were of such pure fantsasy they could exist only on paper; especially as the new trends often required as many phisical concessions as did the garments of the Victorians. Even Evangeline's life-size flourish of Erte elan requires some anatomical compromise. Lisa Lichtenfels
