Leonor
Fini
Leonor Fini (1907-1996), currently the
subject of a major museum retrospective
in her home city of Trieste, is represented by her graphic illustrations
for the Marquis de Sade's classic tale of perversion and debauchery Juliette
[printed on the presses of The Vatican in 1944] as well as imagery created
for Pauline Réage's sensational tale of bondage, submission and
sexual sadism Histoire d'O (The Story of O). Never one to allow society's
mores to limit her creativity, Fini's graphics, drawings and illustrations
depict even the most scandalous of subjects with a forthright acceptance
and appreciation for sex and its byways.
